The Viewpoints

The title of the workshop uses a name of a technique of dance composition, which was conceived by a choreographer Mary Overlie and later adapted and developed by Anne Bogart, the director of SITI Company.

Overlie created The Six Viewpoints and Bogart added 3 more aspects to her predecessor’s method. Based on the technique, this workshop aims to provide a way of logically subdivide and recognize the structures within broader categories of time and space.

With its delicate analysis of movement and gesture with detailed codes such as space, shape, time, emotion, movement and story, the Viewpoint technique requires a high level of recognition. Thus, the technique will be able to become a basic tool of creation in the field of stage art.

Including professional dancers, actors and musicians, artists from a variety of fields related to contemporary performance art are participating in the current performance.
